Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008)

I called my mother who told me she had just started watching Forgetting Sarah Marshall; fifteen or so minutes into our conversation she said, "Ugh, I don't need to see these sex scenes." Sorry mom but the acrobatic sex scenes to which you are referring are, indeed, very funny and the whole movie is charming and well-written, that resting primarily on the shoulders of actor/screenwriter Jason Segel. Director Nicholas Stoller added his 2¢ by casting the charmingly bitchy Kristin Bell, the adorably natural Mila Kunis and the hysterically funny Russell Brand - making this one movie I won't soon forget.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008)

Forgetting Sarah Marshall is the latest sweet film in the film sub genre straight, sensitive men being introspective on relationships (including all Judd Apatow related films). Jason Segel has put his penis front and center by writing (and starring) in a believable script about a guy being dumped and getting back on his feet. Solid support from Kristin Bell, Mila Kunis, Jonah Hill, and Paul Rudd add to the gentle humor, lovely Hawaiian scenery, and effective emotion manipulation.

Pulse (2006)

It's always a pleasure to see the performing chops of Kristin Bell (from the excellent Veronica Mars) and Pulse is a neat little addition to the actress's resume. Based on the Japanese film Kairo, this world domination thriller, despite its lack of flesh-eating zombies, owes more than a wink and a nod to Night of the Living Dead. In this tense techno-take on George Romero's classic, zombies are replaced by ghosts (of a sort) and flesh is replaced by, well, if I told you there'd be no sense in you watching the movie then, would there?
